I first came across the issue of port forwarding when I was still somewhat active on AOL and tried to use AOL's client for MacOS X. I couldn't get the client to connect via my router.

As a Mac user, I have long been familiar with disk images. I really didn't know that the Windows world had them. Although I really don't think they work completely the same as they do on the Mac.

I just came across this web site that aims to keep the cost of software for students to an economic level. The list here is a little dated as it was put out in September 2007, but it seems to have a lot of good software and you can update with current versions using VersionTracker for either platform and/or MacUpdate for Macs.

On March 18th, Apple patched 10 vulnerabilities in Safari for OS X and 3 in Safari for Windows. Computer World discusses the flaws and quotes a security analyst.

SheppyWare's web site is subtitled: "Software for the Apple II, Mac and BeOS. (Only they use all caps.) I found it by reading an article in Computer World about an Apple IIC that was recently sold on eBay for $2600.

EarthDesk 4.1 adds a new map option for a natural view of the Earth from space and is fully compatible with Leopard (and Tiger).

Yes, Supercard, the Hypercard clone is still available and working in Mac OS X as well as in Windows. Solutions Etcetera is the current owner. I remember using it 1989 when it was first to add color and it was almost as easy to use as Hypercard.

Last week, our Mac user group had a great meeting with a PC user doing the presenting. Well, actually, his wife is slowing making him a switcher, but he has to use a PC for work where he supports high end printers.
