As we come to the end of 2011, the folks at IDG Connect have been looking back at the biggest tech stories of the year here at IDG Connect. Without a doubt, the news story that captured the most mainstream attention across the world was the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs on October 5th.

At the June 6 WWDC, Apple gave us 20 new features for iOS 5. But there were over 200 new features promised. I know I couldn’t come close to naming them. If I recall correctly, Mariner Software started with Write and Calc which were alternatives to Microsoft Word and Excel. They then developed specialized software for doing Journaling, novel writing and script/screenwriting software. Now they have software for iOS devices as well as Windows. However, we are starting to see malware and we certainly don’t want to pass on any virus that is sent to us to our friends and associates.
