Apple’s iPhone 5: how much will it cost?
As Apple all but said in a press invite this week, “The iPhone 5 is almost here!” Technically, the company said “It’s almost here” — but the giant shadow of the number 5 on the invitation was a pretty clear tip-off that the rumor mill had gotten it right, and Apple would be announcing the heavily anticipated iPhone 5 on Wednesday.

Apple rivals try to outshine next iPhone with cool features
Nokia Oyj and Google Inc. are doing their best to spoil next week’s iPhone announcement, touting new phones with features such as edge-to-edge screens, augmented reality and a spring-mounted camera for steadier pictures.
The companies are racing to offer consumers more options before Sept. 12, when Apple Inc. is expected to unveil the next iPhone. Apple’s rivals are trying to prove they can break more ground than the Cupertino, California-based company, which hasn’t radically changed the iPhone’s design since its 2007 debut. As Samsung Electronics Co. and Research In Motion Ltd. also prepare new phones, the pressure on Apple is mounting.

Audience Voice Quality Tech Out of iPhone 5?
After weeks of rumors about what’s going to be in Apple’s new iPhone, we’re suddenly awash in speculation about what’s getting left out of the next-gen smartphone.
The latest bit of news concerns noise-suppression tech from Audience, which has supplied a voice quality chip in previous editions of the iPhone. But the company warned investors on Thursday that it’s “unlikely” to have its chips in the iPhone 5, which Apple is believed to be unveiling next week.

New iPhone to Support LTE Faster Wireless Network Gives Carriers Chance to Sell New Data Plans
Apple’s next iPhone will work on the fastest wireless networks around the world –including in the U.S., Europe and Asia — though it is unlikely to be available on every carrier, people familiar with the matter said.
The technical compatibility with so-called LTE networks removes a competitive danger for Apple and gives carriers a chance to sell their fastest data services to Apple’s base of iPhone customers.
