Free iPhone 4S deal tempts Chinese fanbois
China Unicom is offering a no-money-up-front iPhone 4S to Chinese customers in a deal that is sure to make iPhone users worldwide feel a wee bit underappreciated and overcharged.
According to Bloomberg’s interpretation, the deal – which begins on January 13, the iPhone 4S’s debut day in the Middle Kingdom – is sweet for users but a gamble for China Unicom, the country’s second-largest wireless service provider and the only one to currently offer the iPhone, although talks between Apple and rival China Mobile have been rumored.

Verizon iPhone Sales Double To 4.2 Million
Verizon’s last quarter iPhone sales have touch 4.2 million units this last quarter and according to the company that is more than double of what the carrier had sold the quarter before that. The holiday shopping season seems to have been very good for Big Red.
Out of all these iPhones, the carrier sold about 2.2 million 4G devices too. Verizo’s chieft financial officer Fran Shammo announced during the Citi Global Entertainment, Media, and Telecommunications Conference. Full story : Solar Panels News
iPhone 4S remains best-seller at top three carriers
Apple’s latest iPhone propelled what analysts are predicting will be Apple’s biggest-ever quarter, and the handset ended the year with strong holiday sales, maintaining its position as the best-selling smartphone at Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint.
Checks performed by Canaccord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley and his team indicate that smartphone sales in December were strong, with Apple’s iPhone 4S and Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S II sell-through continuing to lead all other smartphones in the U.S. Read on for more.

Apple’s Siri Feature Doubles IPhone Data Usage
Apple’s voice recognition software Siri has prompted owners of the iPhone 4S to use almost twice as much data compared with the handset’s predecessor, placing greater pressure on operators, network firm Arieso said.
“Voice is the ultimate human interface,” Arieso Chief Technology Officer Michael Flanagan said in an interview in London. Voice recognition is prompting consumers to use their smartphones’ functions more often, he said. Arieso advises clients such as Vodafone Group Plc (VOD), Telefonica SA (TEF) and Nokia Siemens Networks Oy on how to manage wireless networks. Full story : Bloomberg

Key indicators saw the iPhone app market up 83% from November 2010 to November 2011. 6.8 million smart phones (iOS and Android) were activated on Christmas day alone!
