Report: Apple’s iPad Dominance Fades
Despite a 20 percent increase in shipped units during the past three months, the iPad’s share of the global tablet market slipped mightily in the face of growing competition from Android slates.
On an earnings call earlier this week, Apple revealed that iPad shipments for the most recent calendar quarter rose to 11.12 million units, compared to 9.2 million in the previous quarter.

Apple rumored to be building iPad 3
Apple’s forthcoming third-generation iPad will have a newly redesigned dock connector, and will be released no earlier than March 2012, according to a new report.
Citing a “reliable Asian source,” Japanese site Macotakara reported on Friday that Apple is preparing to release its next-generation iPad about a year after the iPad 2 debuted. The person reportedly said that the new iPad will be the same size as the iPad 2, but it is “not clear” if the tablet will sport a higher resolution Retina Display.

Steve Jobs was ‘annoyed and depressed’ over initial reaction to iPad launch
Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of Steve Jobs has leaked additional details about how Apple’s co-founder felt about the populist, disdainful attacks on the products his teams worked to produce, noting in particular the launch of last year’s iPad.
Early in 2010, Apple arranged a special event specifically to unveil the iPad, but the media covering the event (which AppleInsider attended) heaped scorn and castigation on the new product, complaining about its inability to run Adobe Flash and deriding it as “just a big iPod touch.”

Brazil’s Batista interested in Foxconn partnership
Batista — a larger-than-life entrepreneur, with a talent for marketing — said his EBX group is still working out details of how it could work with Foxconn, the manufacturer of Apple’s iPad table, as well as a slew of other products.
“I think that participating and promoting, bringing technology to Brazil, that’s something the group always does, and we want to be part of this enterprise, too,” Batista added.

With iPad, Apple faces tougher market, analysts say
the IDC analysts wrote
“Many of the affluent consumers most likely to spend $500 or more on an iPad in markets such as the United States have already done so, and these buyers have now moved into a replacement buying cycle (the length of which we’ve not yet determined),”

Apple Breaks iPad Music Up in iOS 5
iPad owners who updated to iOS 5 discovered their old iPod app is now called Music. They have no complains about the name change but they do have something to say about how the app works, which the update made playing and managing their music library less user-friendly.
The changes were only made to the iPad. The music app on the iPod Touch and iPhone remained the same. People were wondering why Apple tweaked something that was not broken in the first place. Now they made it unusable.

Use iPad as Digital Signage
Juli writes :
In my area, I’ve seen several businesses that are using Apple’s iPad as a way to provide information on services or products. An eye doctor’s office listed an array of available procedures on its iPad, a car rental office used the iPad to display a list of prices and availability, and I even visited a garage sale where the best items were listed on an iPad. It seems that there’s a trend towards using the iPad as an easily changeable digital billboard.
