On Thursday, HP announced that it had completed its evaluation of strategic alternatives for its Personal Systems Group (PSG) and decided that the unit will not be spun off from the company.
This is a reversal of an earlier announcement that they were going to get out of the consumer/personal computer business to concentrate on services. The whole idea of getting rid of the largest seller of computers in the world sounded crazy to me. To say nothing of the fact that many of the services that they will be offering can use the hardware that they are currently producing. Apparently after consideration they agreed with that assessment. However there wasn’t any mention of the tablet product or WebOS.
