Words of inspiration meant for everyone
One day in 1984 I unplugged my beige-brown IBM Selectric typewriter, tucked on the black plastic cover that never quite fit and moved it to the corner of my office. I filled the space on my desk with a new beige Macintosh computer. I have been replacing and upgrading to the latest Mac ever since.
Although my work had been transformed, at the time, I didn’t think that much about the person who had thought up this box on my desk.

The Insanely Great Story of How the Mac Was Made
There was a time, not too long ago, when the typewriter and notebook ruled, and the computer as an everyday tool was simply a vision. Newly released in paperback form, Revolution in The Valley link takes this vision back to its earliest roots: the hallways and backrooms of Apple, where the groundbreaking Macintosh computer was born.
The book traces the development of the Macintosh, from its inception as an underground skunkworks project in 1979 to its triumphant introduction in 1984 and beyond.

Macintosh, Orwell and 1984
Film director and producer Ridley Scott has among his creations such classic films as Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner, Legend, Black Hawk Down, Hannibal (the sequel to Silence of the Lambs), etc. But less known is his creation of a particular television commercial.

The ceremony was intensely private. It was closed to the public and media handlers shooed reporters away from Apple’s buildings at the time.

How Steve Jobs Saved Apple
When Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, the tech company he co-founded more than two decades earlier was on the brink of failure.
During the final quarter of 1996, Apple’s sales plummeted by 30 percent. Microsoft was the dominant computer company in the market.

Steve Jobs: Hardly a Perfect Person, Perhaps a Perfect Icon
As Apple CEO Tim Cook noted again at last week’s memorial service, Steve Jobs liked to say that he modeled his business after the Beatles. So it was interesting to have been around when the Beatles broke up, i.e., when Jobs was fired in the ’80s from the company he so famously co-founded and led.
With memorials past and present and a new biography just out, Jobs is more omnipresent now than when he was among us. Perhaps that’s only fitting. While he was an imperfect person, he may be a perfect icon.

Where next for Apple shares?
Hardly needing an introduction, Apple is one of the world’s best known manufacturers and retailers of personal computers, smartphones and portable entertainment devices. Through dedicated ‘own brand’ outlets, iTunes, App stores and products including iPod, iPhone and iPad, Apple has redesigned personal media and communication.
Expectations for the group have become increasingly high, although since the sad death of co-founder Steve Jobs earlier this month; there are some questions around whether the company can maintain its stellar growth.
