Of course Apple offers workshops for free and One to One Classes for an annual $99 fee in its stores, but what if you don’t live close to one of the stores?
One to One is still a viable option for long distance learning, as it provides on line video instruction as well as what is available in person. But a less expensive option, especially for the beginner is the tutorials offered on the Apple web site.
For example, the iWork applications, Pages, Numbers and Keynote are available here: http://www.apple.com/iwork/tutorials/
iTunes tutorials are here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/how-to/
Mac Basics are covered here: http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/
Topics covered here are Anatomy of a Mac, Windows on a Mac, PC to Mac: The Basics, Personalizing Your Mac, Finder Basics, Exposé Basics, Using Safari, iChat Basics, Mail Basics, Organizing Your Mail and more.
There is also a listing of text tutorials on this page as well as links to Guided Tours for iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand. (Also at http://www.apple.com/ilife/)
Aperture tutorials are at: http://www.apple.com/aperture/how-to/
Logic Studio at: http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/how-to/
Of course your local Mac User Group is an even better source for getting your questions answered.
