Adding Videos to your iPad

The web site Geekfori has an article about how to get video to your iPad/iPhone. Geek for i “because we live in an iWorld”.

Mostly this is about file formats. What formats can be used on an iOS device and how to get them to that format.

The first app mentioned is Handbrake. (For Mac OS – doesn’t mention Lion but does list 32 and 64 bit versions, Windows XP, Vista and 7 and Ubuntu. Something called Fedora is mentions but I don’t understand what that is.)

Secondly, MPEG Streamclip is available for Mac and Windows.

Third and last, Miro Video Converter. (Mac only, but converts “almost any video to MP4, WebM (vp8), Ogg Theora or for Android, iPhone and more.” (BTW – on the Miro page, there is a link to Miro for iPad “coming soon.”)

All of these are open source and thus free.
