This application is used to change audiobooks in MP3 format to MP4 bookmarkable (m4b) format. I prefer this nice GUI version, but there actually is a listing if you prefer to use Terminal (Command Line Interface.)
With this application, you can add author/title information, cover artwork, chapter markers, set audio encoding properties to set mono/stereo, sample rate and bitrate.
Once the modification is done, the m4b files are automatically added to the iTunes media library.
Of course, this means that Shuffle can distinguish between music and audiobooks.
