WikiLeaks Defector Explains What’s Wrong With WikiLeaks
The founder of a new WikiLeaks-like site called “OpenLeaks,” Daniel Domscheit-Berg, took the stage today at DLD and explained what he thinks WikiLeaks is doing wrong and why he is creating OpenLeaks.
Domscheit-Berg used to be the head of communications at WikiLeaks. He quit in September and dismissed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange as a paranoid control freak.

WikiLeaks founder named ‘un-Australian of the Year’
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was named “un-Australian of the Year” by a men’s magazine on Monday for publishing thousands of leaked US diplomatic cables on his whistleblowing site.
Australian-born Assange edged out God, Denmark’s Princess Mary and Prime Minister Julia Gillard to take Australian lads’ title Zoo Weekly’s dubious award for promising to dump 250,000 secret memos on WikiLeaks.

WikiLeaks Targeting P2P Networks?
That is the allegation in a news report that ran last week. While the outcome from the investigation could have a profound impact on whether the anti-secrecy organization is a media outlet – there is a bigger lesson.
WikiLeaks, condemned by the U.S. government for posting secret data leaked by insiders, may have used music- and photo-sharing networks to obtain and publish classified documents, according to a computer security firm.

A WikiLeaks Arms Race?
Earlier this month, Al Jazeera launched a new feature on its Web site called the Transparency Unit –the network’s in-house version of WikiLeaks.
When the unit first went online, there was not much coverage about it in English, but that changed over the weekend when Al Jazeera announced that it had gained access to a large tranche of confidential documents, now being called the ‘Palestine Papers.’

Balancing Public and Private in a Wikileaks Era
At a meeting of the World Economic Forum in China last year, Adrian Monck, the group’s chief spokesman, moderated a panel on social networking. Because the Internet can be a sensitive topic in China, he asked the audience whether the discussion should be kept private, to promote a freer exchange.
By a show of hands, the camera-wielding journalists, BlackBerry-equipped executives and laptop-bearing bloggers agreed to turn off their gadgets.
