Local Catholic high school to give Apple iPads to freshmen

Bishop Canevin High School will provide all of its freshmen with an Apple iPad next school year.
      The Catholic school in the Oakwood section of Pittsburgh will use a combination of $16,000 in federal stimulus money and $25,000 in state funding to buy the tablet computers for more than 100 students. The school is securing private funding to cover the difference. An iPad costs about $480.

iPad 2, Pricing Could Spell Doom for Motorola Xoom

540 Motorola Xoom’s sales will likely be impeded by the Apple iPad 2 introduction slated for March 2, analysts agree. The Xoom performed well against the iPad in early tests.
      Executives from Verizon Wireless, Motorola and Google wowed the crowd at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show Jan. 6 when they demonstrated the 3D and other graphical user interface capabilities of the Xoom, which runs Google’s Android 3.0 “Honeycomb” operating system.

Apple gets onboard with 4G LTE for iPad 2?

The world of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) may be coming to the iPad sooner than we expected. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Verizon CEO Daniel Meade went on record to say, ‘you’ll see more coming from Apple on LTE. – Does this mean we’ll see an LTE iPad 2 announced next week?
      For every bit of speculation revolving around Apple products there is also an equal level of consistency. Each year around June, a shiny new iPhone is released. Meanwhile, MacBook Pros and iMacs see a refresh in six to twelve month intervals. Next week Apple is holding an event where the company will introduce the iPad 2. No SD Card Reader or Higher Resolution Display For Apple iPad 2

Apple will be holding an event on March 2nd to usher in what is believed to be the second generation iPad, Apple iPad 2. However some new ‘insider’ info could have just rained on Apple’s parade before it even kicks-off.
      An unnamed source who spoke with Engadget and states the new iPad will not have an SD card built-in and no super-high resolution display will be present like rumors had been suggesting for these past few months. Some unspecified ‘engineering issues’ are to be blamed for the lack of both features in this iPad, according to the source. The source by Engadget’s own record keeping hasn’t been wrong before about features claimed to be in unreleased Apple products.
