When I was program chair for user groups, I always had a back up plan to use when a vendor didn’t show up as scheduled. At times, that involved having a program ready for me to present. Such topics as “Mac Utilities”, “Trouble Shooting the Mac” and “Keeping your Mac Healthy” were easy for me to do at a drop of the hat in those days.
This month I was reminded that we should have a contingency plan for a new location if the location we are currently using isn’t available on our regular second Tuesday of the month. That just happened to us. We had no contingency plan ready. We had to have a scramble to make a decision. The decision that we settle on was to delay the meeting for a week. I don’t believe that was the best possible solution. Most members have their schedule set to be there on the second Tuesday and generally have other commitments for the rest of the month.
However since we didn’t have a backup plan, it was the best we could do. What does you group do to insure a regular meeting goes off on time as scheduled. I am looking forward to seeing your comments.
