Netflix Reveals Apple TV Used for Streaming More Than iPad

Netflix posted their quarterly earnings on Wednesday, and two of Apple’s products figured heavily in the company’s streaming business — with the second-generation Apple TV actually surpassing the iPad in terms of streaming content viewed.
MacRumors is reporting that the second-generation Apple TV released in late September is already one of the more popular devices for Netflix customers to stream content to — even surpassing the more mobile experience of the iPad, according to BusinessInsider.

News Corp issues invitations for launch of The Daily

News Corp Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch on Thursday sent out invitations to the tech press for the official launch of The Daily, its long-rumored iPad newspaper. The event, scheduled for February 2 at New York City’s Guggenheim Museum, will also feature an appearance from Apple vice president of Internet services Eddy Cue.
The Daily’s launch is reportedly linked to a new iTunes subscription purchasing model

Apple’s Security Past Defines Its Future

It’s a foundational meme of the modern Internet that once Apple’s market share rises above a certain nebulous level, Mac users will face a horde of viruses, worms, and other nefarious malware that will quickly burst our bubble of innocence and drag us into the depths of despair long populated by our Windows-using brethren.
But while market share is clearly an important factor in the relative security of the different platforms, and probably the most significant one from a historical perspective, such arguments fail to account for the current threat environment surrounding both Apple’s products and the Internet at large.
