Apple iPad 2 to lose home button with iOS 4.3 updates?
iPad 2 goes even sleeker with no physical home button … With iOS 4.3 now in the hands of developers, the software’s iPad-bound multitouch adding credentials will see the physical home button removed from the upcoming iPad 2, new reports have suggested
Apple’s insatiable desire to produce stunningly attractive, ultra sleek gadgets has seen its portable devices limit the use of physical controls as much as possible with latest reports suggesting that the four and five finger multitouch gesture controls soon to hit the iPad will spell the end of the current home button found on the company’s iDevices.

Apple iPad Enterprise Future Looks Bright vs. PlayBook
Forrester Research has some advice for businesses mulling whether to support Apple iPad, RIM’s PlayBook, HP’s Slate, Cisco’s Cius or Android tablets such as the Motorola Xoom.

News Corp’s The Daily: iPad newspaper to be launched on Jan. 19
News Corporation on Jan. 19 is launching its e-newspaper The Daily, which will be available only to iPad users, reports Reuters citing its own sources.
E-newspaper The Daily will be formally presented by News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch and Apple CEO Steve Jobs. According to Reuters, the event will be held at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Apple iPad 2 Captured on Video: Fake or Not?
Well now that the Verizon iPhone has been officially announced the next thing most people want news on is probably the next generation Apple iPad, the Apple iPad 2 which is also epected to see launch this month according to rumours which we reported previously (here).
In the video which lasts just 50 seconds we are shown what they say is the Apple iPad 2 and shows that the device has a slimmer profile with angled edges to its aluminium back, sports a large speaker grill and a front facing camera.

Apple’s iPad enters Singapore classroomsFour schools in the wealthy city-state have begun handing out Apple iPads to students, relieving them of the need to carry satchels full of bulging text books and notes.
Nanyang Girls High School has spent S$135,000 (about $100,000) to buy 150 iPads for 140 students and 10 teachers in a pilot project. Users connect to the Internet using the tablet, and download books and course material.

Apple Gets Patent For Solar-Powered Mobile Devices
The patent filing may portend that future iPhones and iPads use solar power to extend battery life.
Apple has received a patent for a solar power system for mobile devices, a possible solution for keeping iPhone and iPad batteries charged for longer periods. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded patent number 7,868,582 Tuesday. Apple originally filed for patent in February 2009.

Windows Tablets Need Tweaks to Become Apple iPad Threat
Windows’ next version will run on ARM-based systems, according to Microsoft, but any tablets could need software tweaks to compete against Apple iOS and Google Android.

What’s In Store For Attendees at Macworld 2011
Macworld Expo is two weeks away so you still have plenty of time to make plans to attend. The dates are January 26 through 29 and the conference takes place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. You can get specific Macworld information at the conference web site.
You may know that last year, prior to the event, all was gloom and doom. Apple was not going to participate so Macworld was going to be a big failure, blah, blah, blah. Well, guess what, those of who were there had a blast. In the Expo where all the new products were introduced you couldn’t stir people with a stick and many of the vendors had to call in extra staff to handle the crowds.

Verizon iPads finally ditch MiFi cards for real connectivity
Along with hearing the announcement about the Verizon iPhone Tuesday, we’ve learned that Apple’s iPad — which has been marketed by Verizon for some time — will now actually be able to connect directly to the Verizon network.
Now, as Apple’s exclusivity with AT&T comes to a close, the iPad will be able to connect directly to Verizon’s 3G — and who knows, perhaps even its 4G LTE — network.
