Housewives recruited to smuggle Apple’s iPad into China
Fourteen housewives in China were recently busted trying to smuggle 88 iPads into the country, signifying demand for Apple’s tablet in China — and the lengths to which scalpers will go to sell them.
According to a report in the Guangzhou Daily, customs officials made the bust worth 950,000 yuan, or about $143,000. The 14 women were carrying 340 mobile phones, in addition to 88 iPads. The women were reportedly being paid 200 yuan, or about $30, to run the devices across the border and help smuggle them in to China. All 14 of the women were detained.

Apple is top North American mobile PC maker
Apple is the top mobile computer manufacturer in North America, and the third-largest worldwide, when its iPad tablet is classified as a mobile PC in the same class as a laptop or a netbook, a research firm said.
Apple has sold more than 7 million iPads this year. High iPad shipments helped boost the Cupertino, Calif., company to a 12.4% share of global mobile PC shipments as of the end of the third quarter of 2010, according to DisplaySearch.

BlackBerry Playbook Wont be Cheaper than Apple iPad
With the release of Research In Motion’s new BlackBerry Playbook on the horizon, RIM has shown off the new tablet during the D: Dive into Mobile conference and has revealed more details on the device along with quashing a rumour that the BlackBerry Playbook would challenge the Apple iPad on price.
According to an article over on Apple Insider by Daniel Eran Dilger, and by way of Zdnet, RIM is in the process of meeting with BlackBerry developers in San Francisco, New York and Toronto, and has revealed that there will be 3 models of the new BlackBerry Playbook which will be somewhat similar to the WiFi iPad.

Google Chrome OS vs Apple iPad
Google has announced its much anticipated Google Chrome OS. The company is partnering with Acer, Intel and Samsung to develop Chrome OS devices. And no, it won’t compete with the iPad.
The reason being, as told by Google VP of product management Sundar Pichai during the event, the Chrome OS is targeted at devices which have full physical keyboards, basically laptops and netbooks.
