Is your Internet connection as fast as it could be? Google has an application called NameBench that will look for the fastest DNS server in your area.
The application is free. It found that OpenDNS, which I have recommended a number of times is the second fastest for my area. It wasn’t much slower than #1, so I decided to keep using OpenDNS which is at least 30% faster than my TimeWarner ISP’s server. (OpenDNS also offers parental controls which can be setup on individual machines or in your wireless router.)
It comes in Macintosh or Windows version and also has the Open source code for those who want to really tinker.
