Awkward to use in any position?
Seems like the iPad might be awkward to hold no matter how you position it. It’ll be too heavy to hold in one hand, you can’t operate it if you hold it in two hands, and it will be impractical to use for long periods in your lap.
… and other questions : Why is everyone in the iPad commercial sitting down? * Why isn’t the iBooks app shipping with the iPad? * Will using iPhone apps be weird on the iPad? * What’s on Homer Simpson’s iPhone?

Convertibles to Share Spotlight on Tablets
PC makers are betting the attention on an upcoming generation of consumer tablets could help generate interest in their less attractive cousins — convertible notebooks that are also referred to as tablets.
HP has announced a new touch-enabled notebook that can twist into a slate-like tablet and open up to offer a traditional full keyboard laptop. Separately, Panasonic has launched a rugged convertible notebook called Toughbook C1, while Lenovo introduced its X201 convertible notebook earlier this month. (picture)

Could cheaper e-readers come next?
Some predict Apple’s iPad will eat up the entire e-reader market, but it may not be too late for Amazon or Sony. These e-reader makers could get a competitive edge by offering a much cheaper device and a new technological development could make this happen.
With e-reader sales expected to double this year, the incorporation of a new chip in both Amazon and Sony’s e-reader technology could drive prices down and give Apple’s $699 iPad some stiff competition.

Will Netflix Take a Bite Out of Apple?
Netflix may finally be ready to warm up to smartphone owners as streamers of online video. Hacking Netflix has spotted a customer survey Netflix is using to gauge subscriber interest in a streaming app for Apple iPhone users. Because it would only work through Wi-Fi — sorry, 3G nomads — one would assume that it would also be available on Apple’s iPod touch.
The survey is a surprise, because Netflix has neglected the growing millions of iPhone owners in the past. Netflix doesn’t even have an official queue manager app, leaving that to third-party developers.

We’re seriously looking forward to getting our hands on an iPad to see if it’s everything it should be. If it comes close, it will be awesome. But I won’t be buying yet … I’m totally curious about the new Microsoft product, which looks like it might top the iPad even if it is running Windows. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
