Essential Mac Apps for Students

This list comes from a web site called “Education-Portal”, so maybe they know what they are talking about. However it is over a year old since it was published in December 2008.

* iProcrastinate – This homework/task manager has all kinds of cool features for students. You can get iProcrastinate for Mac or iProcrastinate Mobile for iPhone. (The name sounds like it encourages procrastination, but I think it is suppose to help you stop. lcw)
* Slife – If you lose track of time on your computer, you may want to consider downloading this free Mac app. Slife tracks your computer time and activities and makes it easy to see how you can streamline your student life.

Others include, Anxiety and TaskPaper for to-do lists, and Think that puts all apps out of site but one.

NeoOffice, Schoolhouse 2, Scrivener, iFlash and Carbon Copy Cloner.

Mac Apps for Note-Taking
Journler, WriteRoom, xPad, VoodooPad and PagePacker.

Miscellaneous Mac Apps
Adium, iStumbler, Hotspot Shield, Buddi and InkScape.

Of course, the page provides more information about each and provides a link. Some of the apps, like InkScape, (a program similar to Adobe’s Illustrator) require X11 to run. The links to go to latest versions of the software.
