I used to frequent MacFixIt forums on a somewhat regular basis. Now that I am not doing “consulting” about Macs, I have gone there very infrequently. I just Stumble Upon a new site that according to an article there, is replacing MacFixIt’s forums.
First it says:
“Fine Tuned Mac: Your Resource for Macintosh Troubleshooting
The FineTunedMac forums offer a place for anyone with any level of experience to share Macintosh tips and troubleshooting ideas, ask questions, and exchange information.”
Then makes this statement:
Welcome former MacFixit Forums users!
The FineTunedMac community is building a new home here since the demise of the MacFixIt Forum, once a thriving Macintosh community, but now shuttered by Cnet.
Many of the most active MacFixIt community members, including the former MacFixIt moderators, have made their new home here. If you’re looking for Mac technical help and don’t know where to turn since MacFixIt.com forum went down, we hope you’ll find what you’re looking for here at FineTunedMac.
So I went to macfixit.com to see what it was like. It now appears to be a series of articles on CNET that provides you with the ability to comment, but not really the ask a question and get an answer forum that Ted Landau originally had on the site. If so, then the FineTunedMac site does provide a true service to users looking for help.
