Acorn by Flying Meat Software is a “image editor for humans” according to their web site. However, I really couldn’t try out their latest version as it is Intel Mac only. It also requires Snow Leopard.
According to the site:
New in Acorn 2.0:
Improved Screenshots – Every window can have its own layer when making a screenshot.
Rulers for your image.
Raw Image Import – Open up your Raw images and adjust exposure, temperature, tint, and more.
64 Bit Support – Ready for the future.
New Dodge, Burn, Clone, and Smudge tools – New hoto retouching tools have been added to Acorn.
After the trial period is up Acorn will disable some advanced features, but you can keep on using it anyway. Find out more.
i did download an earlier version that seems a little confusing to me, but I suppose it wouldn’t take long for me to figure it out. If I was already editing graphics with another program, I would probably understand how more of these tools work as the tool icons are common to most other graphic programs.
It uses layers like Photoshop and has filters for getting effects. Of course, it does vectors and well as bitmapped images.
Command-Shift-6 will take screenshots of any application while Acorn is open. Screenshots. That will be useful for doing tutorials.
Free download, version 2.0.3
Purchase for $49.95, upgrades $19.95.
