Those on the Mac are finding out about the usefulness of syncing iCal events via iTunes and/or MobileMe to various computers, iPhones and iPod Touches. Football fans can now settle arguments easily, with the career statistics of over 4500 current and former NFL players right in their pockets. In addition to being a statistical reference, Pocket Stats: NFL contains useful links to Youtube clips related to players, as well as links to their bio information on Wikipedia. According to this article in AdAge, Facebook has obtained profitability. However, they quote CEO Mark Zuckerberg of saying that it has become “cash-flow positive” in the second quarter. I am not sure that “cash-flow positive” means profit. Continue reading »

Barebones Software developed an email client by the name of Mailsmith. It is a pretty good one, but it is hard for anyone to supplant Apple’s Mail as their primary client. Therefore they really haven’t spent much time updating it recently. Continue reading »

Freehand was originally developed here in the metroplex. If I remember correctly, when Adobe purchased Altus, they decided to maintain Illustrator as their package and spun off Freehand back to the developer, Altsys. Altsys was planning on marketing it themselves. They even had the packaging all planned. Continue reading »
