It has been a long time since I have played Ultima. It seems like it was on an Apple II, but it might have been on a MacPlus. However, I just found out it is available for the Mac using Mac OS /x 10.2.8 or newer, which means it has been out a while, but it also is Universal and works on PowerPC and Intel machines. So it has been updated.
As the web site says:
“LairWare’s Ultima III is a modern Macintosh update of a classic computer fantasy role playing game which helped define the genre. Create a party of four adventurers, slay wandering evil beasts, and talk to townspeople to find out about the evil that has come over the once-peaceful land of Sosaria. Hear the villagers speak to you with speech synthesis, and a beautiful original soundtrack accompanies you on your journeys.
Features:
* Smooth full screen operation
* Original music soundtrack and speech
* Automatic combat and healing
* Use standard graphics or select Apple II, Commodore, Mac B&W, Console, and PC variations
* ‘Classic’ mode for old timers
The free and unregistered version is only limited in that you can’t visit the land of Ambrosia.
Registration Fee for Ultima III is only $15 (US Dollars)
Older versions which run under Mac OS 9 and earlier are also available.
