Those of us who were around back when Microsoft got started really don’t know the full story. Just as we don’t know the full story of most things.
In any case, here is a series of videos of 4-8 minutes in size. They start in 1975, yes 3 years before Apple incorporated. But it is appropriate since Gates and Allen left Harvard and took off to New Mexico to be part of the MITS business.
Of course, what they brought with them was a BASIC that could be loaded into 4K of memory and thus made the first computer useful. Soon after their arrival, the MITS was upgraded to 8K of memory. The first year, the partnership that became Micro-Soft took in $16,005.
The last video currently is 1985.
I guess this is the time for reviewing history. MSN is doing this for Microsoft, but MacHeads and Welcome to Macintosh look back for the Apple fans.
