I remember looking at Mariner Calc for Mac several years ago. I found it at the time to be a viable alternative to Microsoft Excel. Of course, it has been updated over the years, but I chose to stick with the MS version of Excel.
Now however, Mariner has released Mariner Calc for iPhone. It does open and edit Excel files in .xls format and newer.
Of course, it isn’t as full featured as MS Excel, but then MS doesn’t run on the iPhone either. Mariner Calc for iPhone includes 24 math functions, 18 finance functions, 17 trig functions, 13 statistics functions, 14 lookup functions plus logic, date, text and info functions – with many more on the way. It also supports splitting panes and freezing, as well as creating borders and changing fonts, colors and alignment. Landscape and portrait views are both available.
