InformationWeek reported last week that “VoIP service Skype has updated its Macintosh version, and it includes some improved voice and video calling, screen sharing, and the ability to make Skype calls from Boingo hotspots.”
Skype 2.8 beta users on Mac will be able to share their screens with other users, even if they’re using Windows or Linux. This could potentially compete with Web conferencing services like WebEx.
Boingo’s Wi-Fi hotspots will handle Skype calls for 19 cents per minutes deducted from the user’s Skype Credit account. Boingo is available in many airports.
