Most of us in the MUG community at least know that Terminal is on our machines, but not many of us really know what to do with it. “Art of Geek” has presented us with several commands that look useful.
This article is a couple of years old, but they still apply.
Of course, you will find Terminal in your Utilities folder.
Also, he does offer this:
Disclaimer: Please note that I cannot be held responsible for anything bad you do to your computer while attempting to use any of these commands. Use them at your own risk!
The commands covered here:
Eject Stubborn CDs
Unmount Stubborn Network Volumes
Delete partition table on iPod
Stop Bonjour service:
Start Bonjour service:
Restart Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) service
Reset Network Interface
Restart Apache Webserver
Restart MySQL Server
Change a file’s type code to make an AAC file an iTunes/iPod audio book
Any of these could be useful to some of us in the future. The author says he keeps these commands in a Stickie for copy and paste to the Terminal window.
