Microsoft Mac BU gets new head

Last Friday, Microsoft announced that Eric Wilfrid will take over the leadership of its Macintosh Business Unit.

He will succeed Craig Eisler, who is moving to a role elsewhere in the entertainment and devices unit. Eisler had been the head for over a year and took the MacBU from Roz Ho who had headed the group for several years and was moved to another within the entertainment unit.

Wilfrid said that while Office for Mac will remains the group’s primary effort, the unit will also help other Microsoft units evaluate their Mac plans. For example, the Live Mesh group this week released a Mac version of its service. (I don’t have any idea what Live Mesh is. lcw)

Microsoft has long claimed that the Mac unit is the largest Mac developer outside of Apple and currently it has 230 employees.
