Then MacSpecialist with 72 “Essential Mac OS X Applications.”
Freelance Switch with “35 Absolutely Essential Mac Apps.”
Cool Mac Apps with “Top 20 Mac Applications”
There are more, but you get the idea. If you are really searching for a particular app, it is best to see what these folks think of them.
Then UsingMac ranks the Most Favorite Mac Apps based on how frequently they each appear in the various lists.
For example:
