Appfresh
I believe I have mentioned AppFresh before as part of a list of Mac software. But it really deserves a more prominent mention.
First of all, this is a beta release. I haven't had any problems with it, but as they say, your mileage may vary.
AppFresh helps you to keep all applications, widgets, preference panes and application plugins installed on your Mac up to date. All from one place, easy to use and fully integrated into Mac OS X. AppFresh works by checking the excellent osx.iusethis.com for new versions and lets you download and install available updates easily.
Apple’s built-in Software Update helps keep software like iTunes and Mac OS X updated, but what about the rest? A lot of applications on your Mac don’t include their own update checker and even if they do, they don’t work from a central place. It is possible to subscribe to a service like MacUpdate or VersionTracker, but oftern that comes as a price. Additionally, it will work to do update other than when you need to use the software.
