RadoShack to copy Apple?

According to an article in BusinessWeek, an analyst has said that RadioShack Corporation is planning to test a new concept that will emulate the Apple Inc.'s retail stores.

The Deutsche Bank analyst Mike Baker said he believes the company's pilot project will "replicate the look and feel" of Apple stores, and may include access to some wireless brands not carried by the company, such as T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T.

Of course, RadioShack has been languishing over the past three years as they have concentrated on cutting costs. It is interesting that they are going to try a new concept as when they were Tandy Corporation most of their growth came from other concepts such as Pier One. Of course a number of their new concepts also were less than successful. (Computer City, Incredible Universe.)

I till be interesting to see how well this concept does. I do believe it will take more than the look of Apple to succeed.
