Search Me

SearchMe is a search engine that uses Apple’s Cover Flow format to display the results.

I took the name to literally mean to search for me and entered my last name. I got several results that pertain directly to me, mostly Infomanager pages. Otherwise, I got a lot of geneaology pages for what are probably distant relatives.

I also got several results that were about or done by my nephew David. Then there were a few that mentioned some place names in Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

I found that as you went down the track through the cover representation of web pages the program got increasingly slower. I found it necessary to right click on an image to have it open in a new window. It possible to set that up as the default in the settings file. Also by default it filters out “adult” sites.

It is in Beta, so hopefully the speed issue will go away soon.

It appears to be some what a gimmick, but I did find some genealogy items I hadn’t found before using Google.

Try it out here.
