10 steps to a multi-protocol iChat

Most of us know that iChat works with AIM, Google, Jabber and IRC. I have used Adium as an alternative when I wanted to connect with Yahoo, MSN and others.

But this blogger seems to have it worked out so that you can use iChat to get those working as well.

The blogger, Nathan Toone uses a program called Openfire which uses a number of plugins for the various protocols.

The 10 instructions have sub-steps, but are:
1 - Install Openfire
2 - Configure Openfire
3 - Secure Openfire
4 - Create a jabber user (or users)
5 - Install the IM Gateway Plugin
6 - Configure the IM Gateway Plugin
7 - Register for your "multi-protocol" services
8 - Set up iChat
9 - Connect!
10 - Add Contacts

See all the details here.

As usual see the comments for extra info.
