Configure Mail to Prevent iCal Spam
Jeff Carlson, wrote this article for TidBITS. The vulnerability of iCal to spamming was recently announced by one of the anti-virus vendors. Jeff says that he actually had an unexpected morning even called "Hello Dear".
"Double-clicking the event to learn more... revealed that the event was most certainly not from my wife, but from some spammer promising that a large sum of cash is ready to be couriered to me."
"Here's what happened:
"Yesterday I received a spam email that included an .ics file - a calendar event generated in this case by Google Calendar that iCal can read. The message was flagged as Junk and banished to the proper folder, but not before the .ics file was automatically passed to iCal, where the event was created."
Jeff goes on to tell how easy it is to protect iCal from such invasion from Mail.
