Pingology search engine

While setting up the User Group Network (UGN) in Pingology this morning, I discovered an interesting results of a search for my keywords --

Who is knocking off our Trademark name "User Group Network"?

Here's who researched "user group network" prior to setting up their web sites so they could mooch off of our hard earned search engine rankings. While this is not illegal, it says volumes about how low some people will stoop to get more hits.
Google search for user group network

Of course some might urge me to pursue any of these legally, with proof of interstate commerce in 1992. But really, who wants to spend the money and the time? I'd rather be cruising across the Biscayne bay!

But this is about Pingology -- the new alternative to pay-per-click search engine models...

Having said that, here's the reason for the searches: Pingology is a new skill-based alternative to pay-per-click search engines that allows Users to find more relevant information in less search time. Webpage Owners are offered a skill-based alternative to costly pay-per-click on a fixed-price subscription basis. An interesting concept, and one worth investigating as Google declines because of their pay-per-keyword bogus search results.

Pingology - A Skill-Based Search Engine

Pingology user rollout is set for June 10, 2008. Between January 1 and May 31 Pingology is offering webpage owners a free short-form questionnaire for one homepage URL. Pre-rollout discounts on questionnaires and other webpage owner services are also being promoted.

(1) Users respond to simple multiple-choice search questionnaire in addition to entering key words. The questionnaire is designed cull more specific information about webpage content than just key words and simplistic text-descriptors such as image and video.

(2) Webpage Owners answer the questions in advance, providing stored responses in the Pingology database for each of their web pages.

(3) Results: The more closely the Users responses and Webpage Owners answers match, the higher the webpage is ranked in search results. Position is driven by content matching, not bidding.

Pingology Rationale

Businesses are finding consistent high ranking on pay-per-click search engines very costly. ROI can be variable to say the least. A $1000 pay-per-click budget will often not purchase a weeks worth of top ranked placement. No wonder pay-per-click is a $10 billion a year industry.

Pingology advertising will be offered but will not affect rankings or placement -- Pingology will be free to Users.

Pingology offers a fixed-cost, skill-based alternative.

Webpage Owners and Users effectively ping each other; engaging in an anonymous, ongoing dialogue between needs of the User and content offerings of the Webpage Owner. Searches in Pingology are highly personalized and specific for the User and evolve proactively by the ongoing interaction with Webpage Owners via questionnaire responses and answers. Position is determined by how closely User and Webpage Owner questionnaire responses match, not by who bids highest.

Pingology users and registered webpage owners will have access to short-form, long-form and specialized questionnaires. A Reports area allows webpage owners to continuously monitor searches and realign webpage content and Questionnaire responses. Users may view results from similar searches to his or her own.

Pingologys SSE -- Social Search Experiment - allows both users and webpage owners to create their own questions, inviting the search synergy of millions of users and webpage owners. A number of unique features will be added during rollout -- including tunneling: A webpage owner or other user, viewing user searches, may ping a user anonymously suggesting a specific webpage in response to a previous search.

Webpage owners may submit the free short-form questionnaire from the Pingology homepage.
