MacDayLA

This seems to be a unique way to run a user group. I suppose it helps to be in LA.

From their web site:

What is MacDay LA?

MacDayLA™ is a full day of fun & knowledge featuring: Exciting software & hardware presentations by the people behind the products.
Interactive demonstrations - no canned presentations!

They don't just show it to us; they actually teach us about it!

The latest innovations & cutting-edge technology from top vendors and manufacturers
Breakfast-time Table Topics — Expert-moderated discussions.
Buy breakfast, then bring it over to the table of your choice and join a discussion about whatever tickles your fancy. We'll have several table clusters set up and an expert to play host/moderator at each. The discussions can go in any direction. Have an issue? Bring it up. Have a question? Ask it.
Tip Times — Learn valuable tips from top experts and other attendees

Question & Answer sessions — with experts and audience participation that can provide real solutions

Visiting Vendors
We'll have vendors demonstrating wares and selling onsite.

Vendor Discounts — Purchase Mac-related products at special MacDayLA prices.

There will be some onsite discounts and other discount offers as well.

Lunch-time Table Topics — More expert-moderated discussions.

While this appears to be a commercial enterprise that supports MUGs, I think all MUGs and PCUGs should look at this and get some ideas for their part of the country.
