At Washington Apple Pi Meeting, Falls Church, Va, March 29
Apple Pages will be compared to Microsoft Word 2008, and the Numbers spreadsheet will be matched with Excel. Keynote presentation will be up against Microsoft's PowerPoint.
Pat Fauquet and Lawrence Charters will handle the software comparisons. Fauquet Is Special-Agent-In-Charge for Bob LeVitus Consulting, Macintosh basics how-to weblog MacMousCalls.com author, and Apple Pi's Vice President for Programs. Charters, the Pi's General Meeting Q &A session respected moderator and well-rounded Macintosh technical expert, and Apple Pi Journal magazine editor.

Each software suite will have its own presenter to demonstrate how to do common tasks.
The meeting opens with Apple Pi's usual Question and Answer period at 9:30 a. m., followed by club business, and a coffee break. The meeting then resumes with Pat and Lawrence's iWork/Office comparison leading attendees to decide which application meets their computing needs. The meeting wraps up with raffle of some nice prizes. At the meeting's end, members and guests are invited to join Apple Pi leadership at Chevy's restaurant, a nearby eatery, for a buy-your-own meal.
Directions from Capital Beltway, I-495:
Take the Washington Beltway I-495 to US Route 50 West (Arlington Boulevard), exit 50. Make your way to the inner roadway, staying right at the Y to go north on Gallows Road (Virginia Route 650). Drive through the first stop light at Gatehouse Road (school house is on your left). Make left near end of school property. Directions from Dunn Loring Metro:
Take Orange subway line to Dunn Loring Metro station. Board the Fairfax Connector 401 bus with destination sign Franconia-Springfield Metro. Travel on bus about seven minutes, getting off at Gatehouse Road. School is on northwest corner of Gatehouse Road and Gallows Road. Use school's main entrance and follow signs to Apple Pi meeting. Alternatively, in nice weather, it is a pleasant walk along Gallows Road from Dunn Loring Metro to the school. Busses are on approximately hourly intervals on Saturdays.
