iTunes set to be largest music retailer in U.S.?
By now you have probably seen that Apple is claiming to be the #2 music retailer in the U.S by surpassing Best Buy and Target. (NPD is making this statement.)
However, this blogger says that iTunes set to displace Wal-Mart as largest music retailer in U.S. some time this year. He is using the fact that CD sales are dropping at the rate of 20% a year and downloads are growing at a 50% rate.
Personally I don't know how long that 50% increase will continue, but at some point, the transition will be made. The question is how soon and what can Apple do to speed up the process.
