CES 2008: Samsung Mobiles Loaded
According to various sources on the CES floor, Samsung is showing some very cool stuff, including a device called the UMPC ("ultra mobile PC") which is suspiciously reminiscent of the "knowledge navigator" Apple was showing in the early 1990s. (See my earlier article)
It's the next generation Q1 Ultra sports a keyboard, higher resolution and performance, and longer battery life -- play games, surf the web, enjoy your photos, play music, and everything else you can do on a PC.

Does that remind you of the the Newton or the knowledge navigator ? Of course it runs on Vista, and five out of five vendors told me last week NOT to buy VISTA because ... simply put, (and I quote) "It doesn't work." Q1 Ultra web page.
Show guides on YouTube tell us that Samsung’s booth also features 3 of their heavy hitting mobile phones. Most look like iPhone wannabes -- or lesser, with a slide out keypads and all manner of whistles and bells. Specs read pretty much like an iPhone, as does all their merchandising photos and graphics.
