RoughlyDrafted found a report from Canalys that shows that Apple’s iPhone is already the second best selling smartphone in North America behind RIM’s Blackberry — and tops the 2007 most searched for words in Google…

The study looks at 3rd quarter sales of smart phones and shows the iPhone with 27 percent market share in North America. That was for the first full quarter that the iPhone was on sale. I would suspect that 4th quarter sales will continue the trend with the holiday gift giving considered.
World wide, Symbian holds the number one position. Symbian is owned by Nokia, Ericsson and others.

I don’t agree with all their statements, but some of them aren’t far off the mark. I need to see some specific statistics, including year-over-year and sequential quarterly sales figures, to be convinced that Microsoft’s mobile strategy is “failing miserably.”
