The Complete Guide to Mac/Windows Interoperability
This is an article about how to get a Mac running on a Windows network. That is, how to make the different platforms "play nice."
The author starts with File Sharing, then talks about File and Application Compatibility. There are some things that are inaccurate and others that are just incomplete. For example: "But while you're unlikely to run into filetype compatibility issues, Mac newbs should know that applications are not compatible across operating systems. That is, if you buy Microsoft Office for Windows, you've got to buy a whole new package/license for Office for Mac." This is one of the incomplete ones. With iWork, you can handle a lot of Office files, or use one of the open source Office products. Or course, he is correct that MS Office for Mac is the most compatible even if it is the most expensive.
Next up is "File Sync and System Files." Then Printer and Fax Sharing. Of course, he also address running Windows on Intel Macs.
While the article is incomplete, the reader's comments seem to be doing a good job of correcting the errors. (Except for one guy that just says there are a lot of errors and then doesn't list them.
(BTW - this could be a good meeting topic, don't you think?)
