Many people think that Eudora was the best e-mail program for the Mac or for Windows. The most recent version of Eudora still offers features not found in other newer e-mail programs. Odysseus is the code name for the Eudora replacement.
I was unhappy that Qualcomm decided to abandon Eudora and it really doesn’t seem like Thunderbird will be able to pull off the modification needed to make it mimic Eudora.
There will be an initial beta of Odysseus released by the end of the year, with the final
release due toward the end of Q1 2008. the plan is for the final application to offer
full backward compatibility with Eudora, utilize existing Eudora mailboxes
and settings, and offer the features and functionality that Eudora users
are accustomed to, while at the same time improving on those areas where
Eudora lagged behind, such as HTML rendering and OS integration.
Individuals who would like to keep up with the development of Odysseus can
check back at the web site below, as these pages will be updated frequently. Additionally, individuals can sign up to receive email updates by sending an email to

BTW – I came across this announcement on a First Class BBS. Imagine that!!

I also was a huge fan of Eudora.
Hey, can I write for you guys? I can write on topics like Offers Apple, Macintosh, Ipod and iPhone latest news headlines, articles, reviews, discussions, hacks etc — as well as apple, ipod, macintosh, news, apple news, ipod news, iphone news, macintosh news, lates news, headlines, article, reviews, hacks, discussions
Eudora is a richly featured e-mail client and offers many little “secrets”.
The Command, Option and Shift keys on a Macintosh keyboard (Ctrl, Alt and Shift respectively in Windows) are unique in that another key must be pressed while holding down one or several of them.
Select all similar messages
To select all messages in a mailbox whose contents of a column in the message summary are the same, hold down Option (Macintosh) or Alt (Windows) and click a column in the a message summary. For instance, click the Sender column of a specific message summary to select all messages sent by that person.
Command-clicking an email address
In Eudora on the Macintosh, you can create a new message with an email address in the To line by Command-clicking any email address in a message or directory services window. You can do the same thing in the Windows version of Eudora by selecting the message and clicking on the To button.
I certainly hope Eudora works well on the new Macs… I swear the Mac Mail program is probably one of the worst pieces of software Apple has ever come out with — it’s the lamest email software on the market today — no wonder it’s free!
