The Register has reported that Microsoft updated a search utility on PCs and Servers that administrators had locked down. The problem became apparent when the computers bogged down when indexing the hard drives.
Microsoft’s response was that administrators had previously given permission in February of 2007. It would appear that Microsoft owes a lot of people an apology.
This is not the first time that updates have occurred without approval recently.
