macCompanion October 2007 Issue
I have been recommending macCompanion for sometime now to MUG members. It is basically the largest Mac mug publication in my mind. In someways it reminds me of the old BMUG newsletter. The biggest differences compared to BMUG is its publication schedule. Monthly as opposed to quarterly. And the fact that it doesn't take any trees to publish it unless the end user decides to print it.
The latest October issue of macCompanion Magazine is now available online. This free PDF download is around 109 pages, including articles from leading reviewers, including Robert Pritchett, Harry Babad, Wayne Levefre, Dr Eric Flescher, Michael Potter, Rick Sutcliffe, Steven Fyffe and others. Jonathan Hoyle provides a heads-up on Mac OS X Leopard's treatment of 64-bits and Objective-C and gets geeky with Fast Enumeration and ugly syntax in Objective-C.
The only names on the masthead I recognize are Tim Verpoorten of Surfbits who does the Typical MacUser Podcast and Gene Steinberg of the TechNightOwl blog. Gene actually appeared at an Apple Corp of Dallas meeting earlier this year.
The publication includes at least 10 book reviews and a number of software reviews as well as how-to articles. The publication is also available as a podcast.
