Skim - 0.5.1

Skim is a PDF reader for Mac OS X. Of course, there is a PDF reader included as part of OS X. (Which is logical, since the screen display uses a Postscript clone.) Of course, Adobe's Acrobat Reader is free. So why get another one?

The reason is, not only is Skim a reader, it has a lot of neat features for note taking.
Including:

* Adding and editing notes
* Highlighting important text
* Making "snapshots" for easy reference
* Navigation using table of contents or thumbnails
* View all your notes and highlights
* Convenient reading in full screen
* Magnification tool
* Extensive AppleScript support
* And lots more.

I found it on VersionTracker after failing to find it on Macupdate, which reinforces my impression that VersionTracker is more complete than Macupdate.

I am going to use it to get ready for a Mac Troubleshooting presentation at our next MUG meeting. I am going to see how it marks up the Take Control book.

Skim requires Tiger (10.4.x)
