iPhone Plans

AT&T and Apple have finally announced what the iPhone will really cost.

Yesterday, Apple and AT&T unveiled three plans: A $59.99 monthly package includes 450 minutes of voice time; a $79.99 plan includes 900 minutes, and a $99.99 plan includes 1,350 minutes. All three have 200 text messages and come with unlimited data services. At least unused minutes roll over month-to-month and there are free AT&T mobile-to-mobile calls. There also is a $36 activiation fee. (To me, this is like the magazine companies that charge a shipping and handling charge on top of the subscription fee. Or the cable TV companies that charge you $10 a month for a box that will allow you to purchase movies per view from them. It doesn't make sense.)

Of course, there is still that 2 year contract to sign. The good news is that you will be able to use iTunes to update the software and to register the phone.
