iPhone & Google

Time magazine is calling Google the secret ingredient of the iPhone. I am not sure how secret it is.

While Steve Jobs said in his keynote that Google was heavily involved with the iPhone, it wasn't until his "D: All Things Digital" appearance did he show us the You-Tube/Google vidoe connection to the Apple TV.
One would suppose that the iPhone could get those videos as well.
Of course, Google's CEO Eric Schmidt has been on Apple's board of directors for some time and Google's web site keeps promising that it will support Safari for Docs & Spreadsheets. So you would suspect that they would be working close together.

According to Time, the iPhone's Web widgets and browsing software will enable access to a wide range of Google applications, with built-in tools for Google Maps and searches. (I beleive that was mentioned at the keynote as well.)

In my mind the real question is how is Apple going to live up to Steve Job's statement that they are going to greatly improve .Mac services. Will it be in combination with Google? After all, Google is already providing a decent alternative.
