Student Paper Claims iPods Can Affect Pacemakers
I have one friend who has a pacemaker and recently purchased his first iPod, a 5th generation 80 gig one. This story from Bloomberg and Reuters reprinted in several newspapers around the country says that a 17 year old high school student and his doctor father conducted a research project that made the above claim.
They tested 800 pacemaker wearers by having them listen to Frank Sinatra on iPods while connected to heart beat monitors. Having the iPod within a couple of inches of their chest caused them to loose up to three heart beats within a 5-10 second period.
Of course one could question the idea of a high school student conducting the research, but I would want to play it safe in any case.

Hey ... don't knock high school research -- when they really get into it, some very important data is compiled. I've seen high school science projects and research projects that equaled those of very expensive, high end research firms.
Love the blog by the way -- Lynn, you guys ROCK !
