Mozilla released version 2 of Thunderbird earlier today. Some of the features added are aids to manage inbox with additional security and privacy features.
Some of the ways it does that is to allow customization of how folders are viewed. (They refer to “inboxes” as folders.) One of the things it does that I wish Mail would do is allow forward and back navigation through the messages and folders. Tagging is another way to handle messages. That appears to be similar to Gmail’s labeling.
It has also made it easy to access Gmail and .Mac accounts merely by providing user name and password.
Another thing is it tries to warn you of phishing attempts and warns when taken to a different web site than the one indicated by the URL in a message.
There is more, but you get the message and you can read and download it from the Mozilla web site. Also you can view hundreds of add-ons that are available to solve problems you didn’t even know you had.
