PDF to become standard

After the long running success of the PDF format, Adobe finally plans to turn it over for approval as a formal ISO standard.

But wouldn't you know it? Microsoft and Adobe can't seem to agree -- so Microsoft pulled its built-in PDF support from the Office suite in '06. There are still a lot of Windoze users out there who don't even know what a PDF is. Shame. Their loss.

By creating an official PDF standard, such squabbles should be a thing of the past, and good developers can move one adding enhanced PDF features into upcoming versions of all kinds of software.

Leave it to Microsoft to start a pissing contest.
